Volume Operations

In this guide, you will learn about various operations you can perform on volumes in the Block Storage service.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

• Access to SkyAtlas Cloud.

List Volumes

To view a list of all volumes in your account, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Volumes section in the Dashboard.
2. See a list of all available volumes.

Manage Attachments

You can manage volume attachments by attaching or detaching volumes from virtual machine instances. Follow the steps mentioned belove for attaching and detaching volumes.

Attach a Volume to an Instance

To attach a volume to a virtual machine instance, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Volumes section in the Dashboard.
2. Select the volume you want to attach.
3. Open the actions menu and choose "Manage Attachments"
4. Select the instance to which you want to attach the volume.
5. Click on the "Attach Volume" button. Confirm and attach the volume.

Detach a Volume from an Instance

To detach a volume from a virtual machine instance, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Volumes section in the Dashboard.
2. Select the volume you want to detach.
3. Open the actions menu and choose "Manage Attachments"
4. Select the instance to which you want to detach volume.
5. Click on the "Detach Volume" button. Confirm and detach the volume.

Extend Volume

If you need to increase the size of a volume, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Volumes section in the Dashboard.
2. Select the volume you want to extend.
3. Open the actions menu and choose "Extend Volume"
4. Enter the new size for the volume and confirm the extension.

Upload to Image

To create a custom image from a volume, follow these steps:

2. Select the volume you want to upload as an image.

Change Volume Type
